Program Description:
The students will be provided with information on the traditional African way of life through the medium of dance, drumming, and songs of Guinea West Africa. The dances and songs illustrate the cycles of life, marked by birth, rites of passage, weddings, harvest and significant milestones of every day life.
The students will experience the diversity of African life and customs, as well as conveys the "lived history" of cultures worldwide. Students will understand that in African culture, art is not separated from daily life, but is an expression of life, which reinforces community and traditions. This program is designed to enhance the students understanding of Authentic, Traditional African Folklore.

Language Arts – The classes being offered incorporates verbal communication and research.
Foreign Language-The students will learn words and songs in Sou-Sou– French, Malinke and more.

Social Studies/History – The students will learn Traditional dances and songs which were passed down from generation to generation. As well as the history of several other ethnic groups as it relates to their particular dances.
Theatre/Drama– The students will act out stories of the past, books, and or current events through the creative movements of dance. The students will also express their own style and personalities through artistic expressions.

Art– Movements from dance and music is a work of art. We will expose the students to a variety of movements in dance. The connection to dance is art, culture, music, songs, its artifacts and much more.
Math– Addition, subtraction, polyrhythm, counting beats with coordinating dance movements.
Music– Promotes knowledge and coordination between the physical dance and the musical rhythms of the drum, bells and various musical instruments.
Physical Education– Dance is a great way of exercising, relieving stress as well as enjoyment, amongst numerous other great things.

Audience Participation The audience participate in reciting phrases in Sou Sou, French, and Malinke' Language. Selected audience members (students and teachers) are asked to join on stage and learn dance movements.
