9th Annual African Dance & Drum Conference/ International Concert/ Festival


A Message from our Founder...
 
Dear Businesses and fellow members of the community,
Ayoluwa African Dance Theatre, Inc., is proud to announce WAH WAH  “Lets Unite” 9th Annual African Dance & Drum Conference/ International Dance Concert/ Festival,  Friday July 31st and Saturday August 1st 2009 at the Civil Right Museum "Annex Building", and Saturday August 1st, 8pm our "International Concert Performance",  presented at Armstrong Atlantic State University “Fine Arts Auditorium”
.  

This annual two-day event will feature workshops in traditional African Dance & Drum and an International Concert Performance, with renown former members of the National Ballets from Guinea, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, the Caribbean, Middle Eastern Belly dancers, Acrobatic Stilt Walkers and Mask Dancers from the Ivory Coast. In addition, free to the public Live Entertainment throughout the festival, Jewelry and Shekere (shake-ka-ray) making workshops, Face painting, fun activities, a talent show, showcasing Savannah's talents and surrounding communities, as well as an open African Marketplace featuring the “Taste of Cultures Worldwide.”

Our goal is to create an enriched learning experience for greater appreciation and understanding of this cultural experience which embodies the community with understanding, that, art is not separated from daily life; it is an expression of life, which reinforces the community and traditions. WAH WAH means "Lets Come Together-Lets Unite".

For over 16 years, the mission of the Ayoluwa African Dance Theatre, Inc. has been to unite cultures in peace, love and harmony through the cultural arts.  T

Advertising Blitz

 This year’s conference will offer a variety of African cuisine, art and cultural workshops, with an emphasis on Dance and Drum, Live Entertainment, and Fun Activities for the Children.  With the Civil Rights Museum and Armstrong Atlantic State University serving as the backdrop, the African Marketplace will serve as the epicenter of this event. Vendors and Sponsors will be given the opportunity to increase business exposure and cultural awareness with our guests and participants. 

The conference will be marketed as “Wah-Wah (Let’s Unite!) 9th Annual
African Dance and Drum Conference/ International Dance Concert/ Festival
” and will be promoted to the public through several media outlets (Newspaper, magazine, Radio, TV, Internet, Email blasts, Social Networking sites).

Wah-Wah artists and performers, as well as many renowned guest lecturers, will be in attendance, bringing with them their perspective art forms and audiences from communities all over the world.  All registered participants will also receive a hospitality bag to include, but not limited to, t-shirts, water bottles, sponsor donations and other conference souvenirs.   We invite you to leave a lasting memory on our guests with your event sponsorship.

 Proceeds from this very worthy event, will provide a Scholarship for a King or Queen of Aisha Rivers School of Dance & Performing Arts, give a donation to The Carbon-Monoxide Poisoning Research Foundation, (the Rivers Family was exposed to seven months of Carbon-Monoxide Poisoning, during personal research, found there's no cure!), the proceeds will also help us continue to provide  educational "Cultural Arts" programs to enhance the community awareness of the diversity of African life and customs, as well as to convey the "lived history" of cultures worldwide.
 In addition, Ayoluwa African Dance Theatre, Inc. supports many civic projects in the Savannah Chatham County,  Schools and Surrounding areas; National and International; providing educational dance workshops, residencies, and performances. Ayoluwa is also
committed to public service, making a positive impact on our community.
